Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla believed that lasting change does not come from dependence. It comes from giving people the Health, Education, Opportunity and Confidence to stand on their own feet. He believed in Good Health, Good Education, Educated Women and a society less burdened by poverty and dependence. He consciously spoke not only about rights, but about creating the strength and opportunity to build a better future.
The Colonel Bainsla Lifetime Achievement Award, instituted by the Colonel Bainsla Foundation, carries that belief forward.
Every year, one individual will be recognised whose life’s work has made a lasting difference to people, especially through health, education, women’s empowerment, livelihoods and economic self-reliance.
The award is open to everyone, regardless of caste, religion, gender, profession or background.
What the award is looking for?
Not fame | Not publicity | Not a single achievement. The award is looking for a person who has spent years changing the lives of others.
Someone whose work has helped a child receive an education, a family escape poverty, a woman become independent, a community gain access to healthcare, or people build livelihoods and live with greater dignity.

The Process
Nominations for the award are invited every year.
The Colonel Bainsla Foundation verifies the information and evidence provided. Shortlisted are then evaluated by an independent panel of eminent personalities and experts.
The panel looks at the scale of impact, depth of change, lasting results, self-reliance, alignment with Colonel Bainsla’s values, and the nominee’s integrity and personal commitment.
Colonel Bainsla Foundation manages the process. The independent panel chooses the winner.
Only one individual receives the award each year.
